Green Independent Power Production Project (2001 - 2002)

The Green IPP concept promoted by IIEC consisted of a package of multiple renewable energy and energy efficiency resources whose combined load characteristics would match the electric utility baseload requirements and provide the economically and environmentally lowest cost solution.

During the first year of the grant, IIEC engaged in networking, collaborative and promotional activities with several local and regional organizations. It was during this period that the site of the pilot study, the Province of Negros Occidental in the Philippines, was selected. During the second year, IIEC and its local partners undertook resource assessments, social preparations and pre-feasibility studies of the major components of the Green IPP project. IIEC conducted the pre-feasibility studies of the two main project components namely: sugarcane bagasse-fired cogeneration and energy efficient lighting program for the local electric utility.

Services Provides:
1) Renewable energy resource assessment
2) Feasibility study on bagasse cogeneration in 3 sugar mills
3) DSM Assessment in three distribution utilities in Negros Occidental
