Establishing the Foundation of a Partnership to Accelerate the Global Market Transformation for Efficient Appliance and Equipment (2017 - 2019)

The U4E-GCPF “In Depth Data Collection” project is to conduct in-country, targeted data collection to improve the accuracy of the baseline market and potential energy savings. The output from this project facilitated the transformation of market towards more energy-efficient appliances and lighting, and thereby reduced the rate of growth in electricity demand and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while simultaneously increasing energy access and improving reliability.

IIEC was tasked to conduct a market and technology assessment for lighting, refrigerators, and air conditioners (AC) in Southeast Asia, (Cambodia and Vietnam), South Asia (Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) and Latin America (Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, El Salvador, and Ecuador) Countries; and to conduct in-country, targeted data collection to improve the accuracy of the baseline market and potential energy savings.

The output from this project will facilitate a market transformation towards more energy-efficient appliances and lighting, and thereby reduce the rate of growth in electricity demand and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while simultaneously increasing energy access and improving reliability.
