Philippines Efficient Lighting Market Transformation Project

The project’s objective was to remove the remaining technical and market barriers to the accelerated commercialization and large-scale promotion of energy-efficient fluorescent lighting systems in the Philippines.

This project was implemented in parallel with the Efficient Lighting Initiative (ELI), a program which sought to promote the voluntary adoption of international standards of performance and technical specifications for efficient and reliable compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) products in seven selected countries - Argentina, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Peru, South Africa, and the Philippines. IIEC’s work included characterization of the Philippine market for energy efficient lighting which examined the behavior and leverage points of key lighting market intermediaries such as product specifiers, manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers and their role in the implementation of efficient lighting programs.
