Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) Air Conditioning Efficiency (2017)

The project aims to support Vietnam in its implementation of a national policy roadmap for air conditioners. Through the Lower Mekong Initiative and the ASEAN Standardization Harmonization Initiative for Efficiency (SHINE) program, this project will build on the existing ASEAN Regional Policy Roadmap and the Vietnam National Roadmap by assisting Vietnam in implementing higher minimum energy performance standards for air conditioning and encouraging enforcement of those standards.

Key activities performed by IIEC during the project were: 1) Provided senior advisory in the project implementation and participate in meetings with high level officials in Vietnam; 2) Provided technical support in development of market surveillance implementation plan best practice guidelines; 3) Supported in development of an MV&E evaluation report; 4) Supported in development of training materials for laboratory staff; 5) Supported day-to-day operations of project implementation, coordinating activities with local partners, facilitate communications with relevant agencies, and support the local consultant in the preparation and planning of the three workshop and trainings; 6) Provided strong support on the ground, facilitate coordination and communications with relevant agencies (including Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Directorate for Standards and Quality (STAMEQ), Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute (VSQI) and local testing labs), engage in data collection activities with laboratories, assist in the preparation and planning of three workshops and in the coordination of Round Robin Testing (RRT) and training for lab facilities.
