Heat Pump Design Tool

The Heat Pump Design Tool is developed Under the Global Environment Facility (GEF)-6 cycle project “Creating and sustaining markets for Energy Efficiency” implemented by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

This web-based heat pump design tool is developed to support sizing and performance assessment of VCRS-based heat pumps across domestic, commercial, and industrial applications. This tool is intended for preliminary design, option screening, and comparative evaluation of heat pump and refrigerant choices under realistic climatic conditions using predefined applications, city-wise evaporating temperatures, and refrigerant databases.

It integrates thermodynamic property evaluation through REFPROP with 3E analysis (energy, exergy, environmental) to calculate key metrics such as actual and Carnot COP, exergy efficiency, TEWI, CO₂ reduction, and volumetric heating capacity. The tool also incorporates a TOPSIS-based refrigerant ranking module for both single and mixed refrigerants.
