Thailand Renewable Energy Policy Study

The project crafted a renewable energy policy for the Thai government in order to promote grid-connected renewables.

IIEC provided data for an international review of renewable energy policies and their ramifications. Based on this review and its experience on renewables in Asia, IIEC provided recommendations on policies for grid-connected, distributed, and off-grid renewables. In addition to discussing the need for fiscal incentives, such as production incentives or renewables set-asides, IIEC discussed the role of the ENCON Fund and made suggestions for projects that would help overcome some of the non-fiscal barriers that renewables faced in Thailand. The project final report summarized the project team’s work which included revisions to the Small Power Producers Program and quantification of environmental externalities.
