Promoting Energy Efficiency in the Pacific - Phase 2 (PEEP2) Project (2011 - 2015)

IIEC is responsible for supporting the implementation of EE measures in 5 PDMCs (Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu) towards achieving the overall goal of 10% reduction in average monthly energy consumption in the residential, commercial and public sectors and establish the policy and implementation frameworks to move towards the goals of reducing fossil fuel imports.

This involves the development of energy database, national energy policies, EE best practices including building codes and capacity building, large-scale EE projects, information dissemination and awareness and leveraging with other regional energy programs.

IIEC performed the tasks as follows:

  • Development of Energy Use Database
  • Development of EE Policies and Procedures
  • Implementation of Energy Efficiency Programs including EE Street Lighting Program, EE Lighting Program for Residential, Commercial and Public Sector, EE Measures in Hotels and Commercial Sector, EE Measures in the Public Sector
  • Information Dissemination and Public Awareness
