Sonia Shukla, Senior Project Manager
Shukla has more than a decade of experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, air quality management, and sustainable development. She has worked with several multilateral and donor organizations such as The World Bank, ADB, IFC GIZ, USAID, and other foundations. She is presently working with IIEC as a senior project manager handling projects on energy efficiency, air pollution, and renewable energy in buildings.
She leads the International Institute for Energy Conservation – India (IIEC - India) team for the project with UN Environment with funding support from Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) have launched this project to build air quality monitoring and tracking capacity among government, industrial, and utility partners. She led the first study in India of assessing the technical and economic impact of electric vehicles on the electricity grid and local air quality for the Forum of Regulators. She was also involved in developing unique and innovative DSM programmes under the Standard Offer Program framework and has carried out load research for several distribution utilities. She developed e-learning and classroom learning modules on Demand Response and EVs for regulators and DISCOM and conducted a few sessions. She was involved in developing innovative strategies for the promotion of rooftop solar in the residential consumer segment and worked with financial institutes & end consumers on capacity building and to identify and alleviate challenges in the solar rooftop sector. She managed a project from IFC to increase loan pipeline of energy efficiency projects for the partner financial institutes under the PRGFEE scheme and organized capacity building workshops. She also led the development of India’s first Climate Finance Knowledge Portal hosted by NABARD and training of the officials. She holds a master’s degree in environmental studies from the TERI school of advanced studies and completed level 3 of the CFA program.
