Enhancing the Energy Efficiency Impact of the National Clean Energy Fund (2015)
This project aimed to provide relevant stakeholders in India with the evidence base required to secure the approval of financial support from the National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) for specific initiatives to drive significantly enhanced innovation in and deployment of energy efficiency (EE) in India, drawing from UK experiences and expertise. The project detailed the activities that could be supported, their potential impact and the resources, including those related to institutional capacity, needed to deliver them.
IIEC was tasked to 1) Securing broad agreement amongst key energy efficiency stakeholders on interventions for accelerating innovation in and deployment of EE technologies with NCEF resources; 2) Undertook detailed research on the state of play of energy efficiency financing interventions across sectors in India. Conducted extensive stakeholder consultations through interviews and workshops to prepare the state of play; 3) Developed a Business Case for an Energy Conservation Fund under the NCEF, for investment in prioritized large-scale, high impact interventions identified for innovation or deployment of EE technologies; and 4) Drafted project recommendations on the design of an Energy Conservation Fund including the financing mechanism and institutional structure, to Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Power, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India for further action
