Project Description and Summary of Services
|
The objective of this project was to increase the availability of energy-efficient and renewable energy equipment and services by fostering partnerships between Mexican and US and other foreign companies. IIEC conducted a detailed assessment of promising market sub-sectors for energy efficiency services and then identified interested US companies for possible tie-up with potential Mexican partners. With the Trust Fund for Electricity Savings (FIDE), IIEC also promoted the development of an energy services industry in Mexico. Energy services companies (ESCOs) could (1) identify opportunities to save energy for their clients , (2) arrange for financing, (3) implement the project, and (4) guarantee the performance of the project over time. The development of a vibrant ESCO industry was projected to attract significant new investments in energy efficiency in Mexico. |
