Joint Implementation Project Development and Capacity Building (1996 - 2004)
Drawing on experience with project development, the objective of IIEC in this multi-year project is to assist sustainable energy projects to qualify for the portfolio of the USIJI program. The scope of work of IIEC is to prepare these projects for the USIJI program and/or for the CDM. IIEC provides technical assistance in project identification and development. Key developing country commitments to meaningful participation will be strengthened through the fostering of existing and new partnerships between and among businesses, non-governmental organizations, and governments of Annex 1 and non-Annex 1 countries. In cooperation with the USIJI Secretariat, IIEC selected energy efficiency, renewable energy, and transport sector projects in countries where IIEC has a local presence or other activities underway, including Thailand, the Philippines, India, China, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, South Africa, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, and Georgia.
Services provided: 1) Identification and implementation of projects; 2) Project advisory through the USIJI approval process both in-country and in the U.S.; 3) Establish GHG additionality, GHG emissions reductions, verification; 4) Business plan development and financial analysis, and 5) Structuring of financing and implementation plan for the project.
