Women’s Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Energy (2016 - 2017)
The project aims to undertake a needs assessment in Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh to identify specific needs of women for entrepreneurship and leadership opportunities in the renewable energy sector and propose context-specific interventions as well as recommendations for gender-sensitive policy options.
To understand women’s needs and priorities and opportunities, IIEC conducts: 1) Situation analysis on women and renewable energy in select states; 2) Main livelihood activities/clusters where energy can be leveraged to increase productivity and location; 3) Existing situation/baseline such as energy policies and plans with targets on women’s production and use of energy, budgetary allocation for implementation of gender-responsive energy plans, etc; 4) Analysis of barriers and risks facing women entrepreneurs in renewable energy; 5) Stakeholder analysis to identify ongoing activities in the renewable energy sector; 6) Information and access to schemes, programs and current market transformation efforts for renewable energy; 7) Documentation of best practices/solutions in terms of technology/delivery mechanisms; and 8) Development of National roadmap for renewable energy interventions including awareness and capacity building in the identified clusters and districts.
