Accelerating Adoption of Sustainable Thermal Comfort for Transition towards Energy and Climate Resilient Cities in India (2018)

The project aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable thermal comfort for the transition towards energy and climate-resilient cities in India. IIEC was responsible to carry out an assessment regarding ongoing policies and programs as well as efforts being made by different agencies and the private sector for bringing energy efficiency in the cooling of buildings and development of the National Cooling Action Plan.

IIEC was tasked to 1) Research and assessment of policies and program related to thermal comfort and increasing cooling load of buildings in India; 2) Formulate outcomes, outputs, and activities for reducing the need for active air conditioning, establishing an ECBC compliance system and build institutional capacity to operationalize ECBC 2017, showcase advance cooling technologies, develop a framework for the transformation of the market to advance low energy and low carbon cooling strategies; 3) Develop GEF 7 compliant Project Identification Form (PIF) for the project titled “Accelerating Adoption of Sustainable Thermal Comfort for Transition towards Energy and Climate Resilient Cities in India”.
