IIEC Designs and Implements an Energy Efficient Lighting (EEL) Micro Financing Scheme
IIEC Philippines had been subcontracted to design and implement an Energy Efficient Lighting (EEL) Micro Financing Scheme/ Business Financing Model. Its goal is to promote EEL through consumer cooperatives, a sector noted to be effective distribution channel of consumer products in the Philippines.
The expected output is a micro financing scheme / business model that will facilitate procurement and distribution of EEL products through the consumer cooperatives. The model is to be implemented in the three major islands in the country—Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. This subcontract is a component of the “Philippine Efficient Lighting Market Transformation Project” (PELMATP), a five year project implemented by the Government of the Philippines through the Department of Energy (DOE) to remove barriers to the widespread use of EEL systems in the country. PELMATP has several components addressing policy, institutional, information, and financial barriers. It is supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
