Accelerating Decentralised Energy Generation in India through International Supply Chains Driving Scale Up of Reliable Solar Mini Grids (2015)

This project aimed to identify the supply chain barriers in deploying solar mini-grids in India and identify opportunities for international supply chains driving high-quality standards- procedures, encourage investment into the sector and provide recommendations for large scale deployment of solar PV mini-grids in India.

IIEC was tasked to: 1) Mapping of Indian project developers, manufacturers, equipment suppliers, financiers, etc., across supply chains in decentralized energy generation through solar PV mini-grids and identifying key issues faced; 2) Stakeholder consultations (through interviews and workshops) to define the standards (in technology as well as implementation) for reliable solar PV mini-grids in India and aid knowledge sharing between developers; 3) Field visits to mini-grid installation sites; 4) Drafted case Studies: concept to commissioning constraints with developers; 5) Assisted in planning, designing and executing the project webinar involving Indian and UK stakeholders; and 6) Drafted recommendations to promote large scale decentralized renewable energy generation through solar mini-grids in India.
