Launch of Heat Pump Design Tool to Support Efficient and Low-Carbon Heating Solutions

The Heat Pump Design Tool is developed Under the Global Environment Facility (GEF)-6 cycle project “Creating and sustaining markets for Energy Efficiency” implemented by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Developed through a collaborative effort involving IIEC, Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, and Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and supported by Energy Efficiency Services Limited, the web-based tool enables users to perform preliminary design and performance assessment of heat pump systems across residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

The platform integrates thermodynamic analysis with energy, exergy, and environmental (3E) evaluation, allowing users to estimate key performance indicators and compare refrigerant options under different climatic conditions. It is designed to support engineers, practitioners, and policymakers in selecting efficient heat pump solutions and promoting sustainable cooling and heating practices.
